Tomb Raider heads for UK shoot
Warner Bros.’ reboot of Tomb Raider is set to film partially in the UK with Norwegian director Roar Uthaug at the helm.
Production on the film is due to begin in South Africa early next year with Alicia Vikander as the adventuring archaeologist Lara Croft.
Earlier this year Vikander told Digital Spy that the feature will be an origin story, saying “This is quite a different take on it.”
The Tomb Raider films have a history of filming in the UK: the Simon West-directed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider of 2001 took in a wide range of locations in England including Battersea Power Station, Dulwich College, Hatfield House, Old Royal Naval College Greenwich and Windsor Great Park, among many others.
When Angelina Jolie reprised the title role in the follow-up, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life a couple of years later, Hatfield House was once again used for filming, as was Snowdonia.
