The Secret Garden films late spring

Marc Munden A feature adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden is nearing pre-production with principal photography due to begin in late spring.

Production Intelligence subscribers were the first to learn back in November that Marc Munden (pictured) is attached to direct the film that comes from Heyday Films and StudioCanal.

Busy scribe Jack Thorne has written the screenplay with Heyday’s David Heyman and Rosie Alison producing.

Production Intelligence has details of shoot dates along with key hires such as the co-producer, production designer, casting director, DoP and location manager.

Thorne is also working on two period features. The Aeronauts is set to star Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones as two 19th century hot air balloonists, while Radioactive explores the lives of iconic 20th century physicists Marie and Pierre Curie. Both films are due to shoot later this year.

For the small screen, the writer has adapted Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials for Bad Wolf and has authored Fifty Fathoms' The Eddy, a musical set in Paris that will be shot in French, English and Arabic.
