The Secret Agent eyes an early autumn shoot
BBC One's shiny new version of Joseph Conrad's The Secret Agent is on track to start shooting in early autumn.
Set in London in 1886, it follows a plot by the Russian government to bomb the Greenwich Observatory - a mission to be carried out by Soho shopkeeper and secret agent Verloc.
The 3 x 60 drama, which comes from World Productions and producer Priscilla Parish, is based on Conrad's 1907 novel. Charles McDougall directs the tale of anarchy, terrorism and espionage from a script by BAFTA-winning writer Tony Marchant (The Mark of Cain, Leaving, Holding On).
