The Mummy to film in the UK
Universal's major new reboot of horror classic The Mummy is heading for a UK shoot, marking the launch of the studio's new shared monsters universe.
The iconic Hollywood powerhouse was actually one of the first to introduce the idea of mixing characters from across different titles back in the 1940s - an idea now known as a cinematic universe. Decades later, the concept is raking in millions around the world, with Marvel leading the charge with blockbuster titles such as Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man.
Hitherto known as a screenwriter and producer, Alex Kurtzman will make his directorial debut on the feature, set in the present day, working from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts. Producers include Kurtzman, Sean Daniel and Roberto Orci.
