The Media Production Show – a guide

MBI is hosting The Media Production Show on 9 and 10 June at London”s Business Design Centre with many well-known sponsors including Blackmagic Design, Avid Technology, Sargent Disc and Green Hippo to name but a few.

With two packed days of seminars, exhibitors and networking, we”ve picked out a few pointers and highlights to help you get the most out of this great industry event.

TKO book 2016Get there early… We are giving away free copies of this year”s hot-off-the-press Knowledge directory (see right) to the first 100 delegates who come to the Knowledge stand on the Gallery level, so make sure you”re among the lucky ones.

The earlier the better is a good rule of thumb for the seminars too, as seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meet the teamIndividuals from The Knowledge and Production Intelligence will be on the show floor on both days, and would like to meet you. You can talk to us about your Knowledge profile, have a demo of PI, or just come and say hello.

Get your networking head on… The show will be full of top industry professionals so make sure you”re ready to do plenty of networking. There will be drinks on Day One from 4pm in the show bar, which is sponsored by Air New Zealand.

Representatives from across the creative industries will be there, including directors, producers, location managers, DoPs, VFX supervisors, colourists, editors, heads of technology, heads of post, studio managers, lighting technicians, recordists, aerial operators, animators, art directors, composers, costume designers, , multi-camera directors, post-producers, post production supervisors, production designers, special effects supervisors, technical directors, archivists and restoration technicians.

Learn, learn, learn… The two days are packed with seminars, masterclasses and panel debates from some of the best-known names in film and TV. Subjects covered range from diversity in the creative sector and directing award-winning drama to UK tax relief and being a freelancer in today”s creative landscape.

There is a plethora of sessions for those involved in the technical side of production too, including a CGI masterclass from Andy Serkis” Imaginarium.

The Imaginarium

The show will also give you the chance to meet more than 135 sponsors and exhibitors from around the world, showcasing their new products and services on the main floor space. 40 of these are presenting for the first time so you”ll be getting a premiere…

Late-night Thursday… Mindful of those of you who work full-time days, be it in an edit suite, on a film set or simply at your desk, we are staying open until 7pm on Day One.

Wear comfy shoes… One of the reasons the Business Design Centre is ideal for this event is its size – there are five different seminar areas within the venue and a large floor space full of exhibitors. All in all over 6,000 sq m for you to cover so get those trainers out of their box…

The best things in life are free… The whole event is free to attend. Enough said.
