Star Wars goes Back to the Future
2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the iconic feature film Back to the Future starring a young Michael J Fox, and we can now bring you the exclusive news that an A-list cast is boarding a remake.
The as yet untitled project will see the original film in a tri-genre mash-up with the behemoth Star Wars franchise and the charming Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films.Â
Much of the plot is shrouded in secrecy, but it is thought that the feature will see the iconic DeLorean car land on the planet Coruscant where some of the original Star Wars characters are found living out their later years in a kind of galactic hotel for retired space travelers.Â
Dame Judi Dench is attached to the role of the now silver-haired Princess Leia, with Sir Roger Moore on board as distinguished septuagenarian Luke Skywalker. Han Solo will be seen in flashback only - at the time of going to press, topliners Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston and Danny Dyer were all circling the coveted role.
The project is very much the brainchild of Italian super producer Flora Lipo, who runs Scherzo Productions in Rome and her directing partner Olaf Ropil of Blague Films in Paris.
The pair announced the news exclusively to The Knowledge. Lipo said: "It's a dream come true; we're aiming for an interpretive, regenerative, Bergmanesque arthouse crossover bunny", while Ropil was more specific, choosing to confirm that principal photography is due to begin today…
