Production Intelligence: Some nuggets for 2015

As you all know, The Knowledge has more to offer than ‘just’ news, guides and a website chock-full of production service and crew contacts. We are also the home of Production Intelligence, our online database of productions in all stages of development, currently housing over 5,600 films and TV programmes.

After we did a bit of digging in our files we found ten productions on Production Intelligence which you might be interested in. They vary between features and television and will all be premiering in 2015 and the beginning of 2016.

London Spy

Just before he starts on Bond, Ben Whishaw is currently shooting London Spy, a major new drama for BBC Two. This Working Title Television production comes from Child 44 writer Tom Rob Smith and centres on a young romantic man drawn into the world of espionage.

 

London Has Fallen

Also currently filming in our capital is London Has Fallen, the London-set sequel to the action adventure Olympia Has Fallen. From Millennium Films, the feature will star Aaron Eckhart, Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman.

 

Mr Holmes

Earlier this year, Ian McKellen has just taken off his deerstalker after he played a retired Sherlock Holmes in upcoming production Mr Holmes. The film, by director Bill Condon, will see him living in a sleepy English village but haunted by an unsolved case from 50 years ago. Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from a novel by Mitch Cullin, the feature was produced by Anne Carey of NYC-based Anchor Gray along with See-Saw Films’ Iain Canning and Emile Sherman and Aviv Giladi of Icon/AI Film.

 

Humans

Still in production after a 19 week shoot which started in September, Humans, a new sci-fi drama adapted from the Swedish original, shows us life in a parallel present day, where humans and robots have become almost indistinguishable. This Kudos Film & Television production stars Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill, Rebecca Front, Gemma Chan, Colin Morgan, Neil Maskell and William Hurt.

 

Spotless

Spotless is an action drama about a man whose brother leads him into crime. The Tandem Communications and Rosetta Media production for Canal+ recently wrapped in London and viewers can expect to see 10 episodes in 2015.

 

The Casual Vacancy

It’s all the big guns for J.K Rowling as her story The Casual Vacancy is made into a short series by HBO, BBC Drama and Bronte Film & TV.  Set in a pretty English market town, where all is not as idyllic as it first seems, this production features the great Michael Gambon, Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear, Monica Dolan, Simon McBurney, Richard Glover, Michelle Austin, Rufus Jones, Julia McKenzie and Abigail Lawrie.
