Pinewood Studios launches free online course
Pinewood Studios has launched a free online course examining the business of filmmaking, in a move timed to coincide with the launch of the 59th BFI London Film Festival.
The Business of Film course has been organised in partnership with The Open University and will focus on the complexities of development, finance and distribution.
"Our partnership with The Open University will help to stimulate the future of British filmmaking by ensuring the UK has some of the most innovative and creative people working in film," said Andrew M Smith, director of Pinewood Studios.
"Film and television making in Britain is booming and Pinewood is one of the jewels in the crown of our creative industries," added business secretary Sajid Javid.
"It is therefore very welcome to see Pinewood leading the way and encouraging our future filmmakers, producers, financiers and distributors through this new course which will help ensure the future success of our world-class film industry."
Pinewood has had a strong year hosting big-budget movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and new James Bond film Spectre. Lucasfilm is confirmed to remain at the studio for at least the next two films in the rebooted franchise.
