Newspaper drama sets filming dates
A major new drama set against the backdrop of the newspaper industry is preparing for an early autumn shoot.
Press is from Doctor Foster scribe Mike Bartlett and explores the world of British newspapers following the phone-hacking scandal, as the fast-moving digital age makes increasing demands on the 24-hour news cycle.
The 6 x 60 drama for BBC One is a co-production with Masterpiece for PBS and comes from Deep Indigo, Lookout Point and BBC Studios.
Nigel Stafford-Clark of Deep Indigo, who will produce Press, said when the commission was announced: “At a time when both the nature and the role of the press have themselves become part of the news, there’s never been a better moment to focus on this unique world as the basis of a major television series.
"And I can’t think of anyone better to take that on than Mike Bartlett.”
Barlett executive produces alongside Faith Penhale for Lookout Point, Bethan Jones for BBC Studios and Rebecca Eaton for Masterpiece.
