The Great British Bake Off 8 in prep
An eighth series of ratings winner The Great British Bake Off is now in pre-production at Love Productions as the show gears up for its Channel 4 debut.
The finale of Season Seven was screened in October and was watched by around 14 million people, according to BBC figures.
Love Productions has signed a three-year deal with Channel 4 for the rights to The Great British Bake Off from next year.
"We believe we've found the perfect new home for Bake Off,” said Richard McKerrow, creative director of Love Productions, when the acquisition was first announced:
“It's a public service, free-to-air broadcaster for whom Love Productions have produced high-quality and highly successful programmes for more than a decade.
"It's tremendously exciting to have found a broadcaster who we know will protect and nurture The Great British Bake Off for many years to come."
Channel 4 will need new presenters and a new judge following the departure of BBC presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, as well as baking expert Mary Berry.
Filming for Season Eight is likely to begin in the early spring.
