Gerard Butler and Peter Mullan film Keepers

Gerard ButlerGerard Butler, Peter Mullan and Connor Swindells begin filming Keepers this week in Scotland with Kristoffer Nyholm at the helm to direct.

The film is based on real-life events of 1900 which happened on a remote island group just off the Outer Hebrides which became known as the Flannan Isles mystery.

Just before Christmas of that year, three lighthouse keepers seemingly disappeared into thin air, their bodies never found.

Danish-born Nyholm has been better known to date for his work in television, particularly high-profile dramas such as The Killing and Taboo. He will be calling the shots on Keepers from a screenplay by Celyn Jones and Joe Bone – the film comes from production company Mad As Birds
