French and Saunders back at TV Centre
A TV special to celebrate 30 years of French and Saunders is set to film at the new studio space in what was once the iconic BBC TV Centre in Shepherd’s Bush.
The recording will take place in late November at the facility, now known as TVC, as the comedy pair reunite for the first time in more than ten years for the as-yet-untitled one-off for BBC One.
Jon Plowman is the executive producer with James Farrell on board to produce.
There are three studio spaces comprising a total of more than 22,000 sq ft of shooting space at the mixed-use TV Centre development, along with post-production facilities, support facilities and production offices. There are already several ITV shows booked into use the space, some because of the closure of the London Studios.
Seasoned comedy producer Plowman previously said of the French and Saunders commission: “To be honest I wouldn't have a career without them so it’s terrific that they're back together for this show of old, gold and new stuff. They are two of the greats and it's good that they've finally found each other's phone numbers for the first time in a while.”
French and Saunders ran for six series from 1987-2007, with increasingly high budgets for a sketch show. It became well known for celebrity cameos and creating spoofs of famous films and pop performances.
The French and Saunders special is one of around 100 film and TV projects in pre-production currently listed on Production Intelligence. To request a free online demo, click here.
