Cormoran Strike starts mid-November

Tom BurkeAfter a slight shift in the shooting schedule, The Cormoran Strike Mysteries is now set to begin filming in mid-November.

The seven-part series for BBC One is split into three separate dramas, adapted from the best-selling crime dramas by Robert Galbraith, aka JK Rowling. The Cuckoo’s Calling will comprise 3 x 60, while The Silkworm and Career of Evil will be delivered as a pair of 2 x 60.

The 18-week shoot will take place largely on location in London with Tom Burke (War and Peace, The Musketeers) attached to star as the eponymous Strike, a war veteran turned private detective.

Rowling said of Burke’s casting when it was first announced: “I'm thrilled about the casting of Tom Burke, a massively talented actor who'll bring the character to perfect life.”

The start date for principal photography is on Production Intelligence, along with key HoD names including the line producer, producer, production designer, location manager and casting director.

As with The Casual Vacancy, The Cormoran Strike Mysteries comes from Bronte Film and TV, the independent production company co-founded by Rowling and Neil Blair.
