Show Dogs films Wales as America

WalesAmerican comedy film Show Dogs has shot in Wales for interior scenes set in Las Vegas and New York.

Directed by Raja Gosnell, the film follows a talking police dog as he and his human partner investigate illegal fur traders at a prestigious dog show.

Welsh production took place at Pinewood Studio Wales and on location locally.

“We had a great time in Wales and I was delighted with the Welsh crews we worked with – they were thoroughly professional, very accommodating, welcoming and friendly,” said Deepak Nayar, a producer on the film.

“We couldn’t have asked for more. It’s been a great experience and one I’d like to repeat as I’m very keen to carry out more projects in Wales – so watch this space.”

Nearly £5m was spent in Wales during the shoot. The production was supported by the Welsh government and by the country’s Media Investment Budget, a funding mechanism that is advised by Pinewood Pictures.

Producers have access to three stages at Pinewood Studio Wales. The facility’s previous high-profile projects have included Kurt Sutter’s medieval drama series The Bastard Executioner.

Bad Wolf announced plans last month to open a major new studio facility near Cardiff city centre that will host a major TV adaptation of book trilogy His Dark Materials.
