JJ Abrams produces Overlord in the UK
JJ Abrams is one of the producers on feature film Overlord, which is currently in pre-production in the UK readying for a summer shoot.
As reported on Deadline, Overlord will star Jovan Adepo and Wyatt Russell. The story is set during the build-up to D-Day and centres on a group of US paratroopers on a key mission behind enemy lines.
As the soldiers reach the occupied Normandy village they find themselves battling another enemy as supernatural forces, created by a Nazi experiment, are unleashed.
Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games) and Mark L Smith have written the screenplay with Julius Avery directing. The film comes from Paramount and Bad Robot (Abrams’ company).
The UK is currently hosting several major international feature films and high-end TV dramas at the moment including a clutch of Disney films and Netflix dramas.
