Lip Sync Battle 2 in pre-production
A second series of Channel 5’s Lip Sync Battle will start filming later this month at a south-east England studio.
Produced by Whizz Kid Entertainment in the UK, the show is hosted by rapper Professor Green and former Spice Girl Mel B (pictured), and features celebrities ‘battling’ each other by lip-syncing to famous songs.
Lip Sync Battle is based on a format originally developed for US cable channel Spike and now has nearly 20 local versions around the world.
The UK show found an audience of 2.5 million for its first episode and sustained viewing figures of just under two million for the full series.
“Following extraordinary performances last time from the likes of David Walliams, Johnny Vegas, and Michelle Keegan, the bar has been well and truly raised so expect some jaw-dropping moments and sensational lip-syncing from the nation’s favourite talent,” said Malcom Gerrie, chief executive of Whizz Kid, in comments to Broadcast when the show’s renewal was first announced.
