Saoirse Ronan (pictured) and Billy Howle star in the film, with a screenplay by McEwan. The original book, shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2007, centres on a honeymooning couple in 1960s Dorset reflecting on their hopes, regrets and fears for the future.
The feature comes from Number 9 Films producers Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Woolley who are working alongside BBC Films. Dominic Cooke – best known for his work as artistic director of the Royal Court – is at the helm to direct.
Cooke also directed the BBC’s Shakespeare trilogy, The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses, comprising Richard III and Henry VI Parts 1 and 2, which began shooting in autumn 2014 and which marked Cooke’s TV directorial debut.
Production Intelligence now has around 130 projects in pre-production including feature films, high-end TV dramas and entertainment and factual shows. For more information click here.
