Imaginarium at the Media Production Show
The inaugural Media Production Show to be held in London on 9-10 June, continues to attract some heavyweight talent in its line-up of speakers.
Visual effects are enabling productions to create ever more realistic and convincing digital environments – as illustrated in Disney’s remake of The Jungle Book – and performance capture has become the dominant technique for creating digital characters.
Andy Serkis’ UK-based performance capture specialist The Imaginarium is one of the biggest hitters in the field.
Imaginarium’s chief executive Tony Orsten will be at the Media Production Show to create a live CGI character onstage one of several creative sessions at the event. Imaginarium has a busy slate, with adaptations of Animal Farm and The Bone Season among its development projects, as well as its own version of The Jungle Book, filmed int he Uk and currently in post.
Aside from its own productions, the studio also continues to provide a consultancy service, as seen with the Planet of the Apes franchise and Godzilla among its big budget credits.
Drama is making a strong showing at the two-day event: several big names already lined up are set to be joined by directors James Hawes (Undercover, The Suspicions of Mr Whicher) and Andy de Emmony who is at the helm of the forthcoming feature Four Kids and It.
There will also be sessions with seasoned drama producer Kate Harwood who, alongside Oona King, will be talking about becoming a successful woman in television.
This is just a handful of the wide-ranging line-up of speakers at the event, which will also host big-name exhibitors.
