Game of Thrones series 4 wraps in Northern Ireland

Filming finishes at the end of this week (22 November) on the fourth series of Game of Thrones. The Northern Ireland-based shoot began in July, with some filming taking place in Dubrovnik.

The series, created by David Benioff and D.B Weiss, has proved a huge hit for HBO and Sky Atlantic, garnering multiple gongs including a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy among its many nominations.

And the added sparkle is that acclaimed director Neil Marshall has returned to direct the penultimate episode of this series, having made his Game of Thrones debut back in the second run when a director dropped out at short notice.

Adapted from the hefty George R.R. Martin series of novels A Song of Ice and Fire, the fantasy drama has also proved a massive boost for the Northern Ireland TV industry. With no shortage of source material, we can see this one running and running, as it has brought a previously niche genre to the mainstream, building a passionate fan base along the way.
