Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola create new Prada ad

What caught our eye in the cinema last night? There on the bright big screen appeared a new ad for Prada’s perfume Candy L’eau directed by nobody less than Wes Anderson and co-directed by Roman Coppola. Tadaa!

The new semi-long 3 minute ad – which seems to be the preferred length nowadays for outputting commercials by luxury brands – has that distinctive Anderson quirkiness to it, yet still has the sort of glossy shine we have come to expect from fragrance advertisements.

The video, entitled Prada Candy L’eau after the product it is aiming to promote, stars Lea Seydoux with Peter Gadiot and Rodolphe Pauly. The storyline? Two disturbingly similar looking young men who both fall in love with the same girl. Life doesn’t have to be complicated.

Showing off his signature obsession for the perfect composition, it is almost as if Anderson featured an add-on lead actor just to even out the balance (you’ll know what I mean when you see it).

The production house behind the ad is the Los Angeles-based The Director’s Bureau with Darius Kondjhi as the DoP.
