Stuart Wealands of Directors UK provides an overview of the Directors Lab scheme for aspiring filmmakers.

 

Are you 16-25 years of age? Do you have some experience of making films? Would you like the opportunity to learn from award-winning directors about what the role of a director really is? Then the Directors UK & Second Light’s ‘Directors LAB’ could be for you.

The Directors LAB is offering you the opportunity to learn all about the role and work of the director through each stage of production from development and pre-production, production and post-production. You will get to understand the director’s vision and work with crews, actors and editors. It will also offer practical advice on how to build your directing career through a series of guest speakers, exercises, case studies, project work, discussions and practical exercises.

The Directors LAB aims to support aspiring filmmakers learn the craft of directing. This opportunity is targeted at self-motivated and self-achieving young filmmakers aged between 16-25 years. Applications are especially welcome from those from diverse backgrounds currently under-represented within the film industry.

The course takes place Friday 31st August to Sunday 2nd September and each day will run from 9-6pm. To apply you must be available to attend all 3 days. Lunch is provided.
