The nominations for the 2012 BAFTA TV are out and ITV1’s Appropriate Adult heads the field with four nods, closely followed by the BBC’s Sherlock and Channel 4’s This is England ’88, who have three apiece. Mrs Brown’s Boys has cemented itself into the public’s consciousness with its move to primetime, having garnered two nominations. The show is up against another BBC comedy, Rev, as well as Channel 4’s Fresh Meat and Friday Night Dinner.

For non-drama, Celebrity Juice, which picked up the best panel show award at the NTA’s, is up against Derren Brown: The Experiments, Harry Hill’s TV Burp and Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Comedy Roadshow in the entertainment programme category. The Only Way Is Essex misses out in the new ‘reality and constructed factual’ category, leaving An Idiot Abroad, Don’t Tell The Bride, Made In Chelsea and The Young Apprentice competing for the award.

The awards take place at the Royal Festival Hall on 27th May.
